The ASW Story

August 1943

Foundational Years

In 1943, Associated Spot Welders opened its doors as a small, family-owned resistance welding manufacturer. Focused on spot and stud welding, ASW quickly established itself in the commercial market, offering high-volume production capabilities and building a foundation for the company’s future growth.

October 2024

A New Era for ASW

On October 1, 2024, after nearly a year of negotiations, Ibrahim Ibrahim and Darius Kania completed the acquisition of ASW with a vision to elevate the company and build on the foundation set by its original owners. Bringing decades of aerospace manufacturing experience and two successful Connecticut-based businesses, they aimed to leverage proven strategies to take ASW to the next level.

January 2025

Strengthening Quality and Expanding Capabilities

By early 2025, ASW had undergone a full transformation under new ownership—renovating its office and shop floor, implementing new ERP and CRM systems, upgrading equipment, achieving ITAR registration, and launching a full rebrand with a new website. The addition of a Manufacturing Quality Engineer and new met-lab capabilities further strengthened ASW’s focus on precision, compliance, and efficiency to meet growing aerospace production demands.

February 2025

Introducing Resistance Seam Welding Capabilities

In February, ASW expanded its core capabilities with the addition of resistance seam welding—enabling airtight, leak-proof, and structurally consistent welds across diverse materials and geometries. Shortly after installation, the new system earned Class A qualification across multiple material groups. This advancement allows ASW to support more aerospace and defense applications, while helping customers consolidate welding needs under one trusted source for greater efficiency and consistency.

May 2025

Achieving AS9100D Certification & NADCAP Merit Status

In May, ASW proudly achieved AS9100D Certification and passed NADCAP for Class A and Seam Welding with Merit Status, the industry’s highest recognition for quality performance. The company also welcomed its first full-time Quality Engineer to strengthen our continuous improvement initiatives. These certifications demonstrate ASW’s commitment to maintaining a world-class quality management system—one that meets the rigorous requirements of aerospace and defense OEMs and primes.

June 2025

Investing in the Next Generation and Expanding Partnerships

ASW hired its first engineering intern, investing in the next generation of aerospace professionals while fostering innovation and new perspectives within our team. During this period, ASW successfully completed a Boeing audit and gained Northrop Grumman approval. These accomplishments expand ASW’s approved supplier network and reaffirm our standing as a trusted partner for industry leaders across the aerospace and defense sector.

July 2025

Implementing Lean 5S and Earning Aerojet Rocketdyne Approval

In July, ASW implemented Lean 5S initiatives and company-wide training to enhance organization, safety, and efficiency across the shop floor. Shortly after, we earned Aerojet Rocketdyne approval—marking a key milestone in our supplier growth strategy. These lean practices streamline production, reduce waste, and ensure consistent quality, reinforcing our commitment to exceeding customer expectations.

Expanding Aerospace End-User Certifications

ASW recently earned approvals from both Collins Aerospace and United Launch Alliance (ULA), marking a significant milestone in our commitment to broadening our end-user certifications. These achievements demonstrate our dedication to maintaining a constantly evolving list of approved aerospace partners, ensuring we can meet the precise standards and requirements of leading industry players. By continuously expanding our approvals, we reinforce our capability to serve a wider range of customers while upholding the highest levels of quality and reliability.
